Begin your adventure at Takapuna, where you'll explore a rocky coastline which was once an ancient forest and learn about Auckland's volcanic history. You'll have the opportunity to purchase a coffee or ice cream from a local café while enjoying the beach.
Continue to Smith's Bush, where a boardwalk takes you through an urban lowland rainforest. Gaze up at trees found only in New Zealand, some up to 500 years old!
Next, head to Kauri Glen Reserve for a treetop walkway, offering a different perspective as you look down on the canopy below and enjoy the birdsong.
Finally, follow a stream at Le Roy's Bush through wetlands into the rainforest, with your guide pointing out unique native plants and other wildlife. Visit Birkenhead Wharf for great views back across the water to the city, and choose between taking the ferry back to the city centre under the Auckland Harbour Bridge or driving back over the bridge to be dropped off by your guide.
This tour is a small group guided tour, which includes pick up and drop off from central Auckland hotels and the cruise port. The optional ferry back is included in the tour price.
